CLT20: Last-ball 6 hit by Arun Karthik takes RCB into semis

CLT20: Last-ball six takes RCB into semis

    Royal Challengers Bangalore innings:
20th over: It's a finish of the stuff fairytales are made of. Needing six off the last ball bowled by Daniel Christian, Arun Karthik slog-sweeps to connect and send the ball sailing over mid-wicket for an unimaginable but deserving win for the home team. They get home by two wickets and with that into the semifinals. NSW played well but have to pack their bags now.

19th over: A beamer from Tait to Dilshan is followed by a death rattle for the Sri Lankan, who gets bowled off a perfect yorker. But a tremendous knock from Dilshan (74 off 47)! However, that wasn't it yet as Vettori's cheeky attempt to clear the short fine leg finds him instead and off the next ball, Raju Bhatkal is castled as well. Tait completes a five-for and turns the match on its head. From 183/2, RCB are now 201/7 and need 15 to win off the last over.
18th over: Mayank Aggarwal comes in and goes, but not before hitting O'brien for a six. Next man in Daniel Vettori also opens account with a six. It could be a last ball finish; 18 runs needed of 12 balls.
16th over: Boy! Two huge sixes off Tait of all men. The faster it comes, the further it goes: one from Tiwary and one from Dilshan. But Tait got his revenge by sending Tiwary back. Will it be a last-ball finish? Looks like it!
15th over: Much-needed success for the Redbacks. Last ball of Tait's over nails Kohli for 70 off 36 balls. Just four runs off the over makes it even better, 165/1. Saurabh Tiwary walks in. Dilshan surely the key now!
14th over: RCB are firm favourites now! Another big over, leaking 14 runs. Redbacks seem clueless as the score swells to 161/1.
13th over: Kohli is on fire. Two sixes and a four to start the over bowled by Harris, with the second six bringing up his fifty in just 28 balls. Dilshan joins in with a four bringing up his fifty in 31 balls, and another one after it to confirm RCB's domination. Match on at 147/1!
11th over: Another six and four from Kohli's bat, this time off Richardson. RCB alive and kicking at 112/1.
10th over: Dilshan is standing up to do the job. And Kohli has joined in with a six and four to start O'Brien's over. It's 98/1.
7th over: Silence descends over the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Gayle out caught by Klinger for a 27-run cameo. Christian gets his man, but Kohli brings the cheers back with a six. It's a pendulum at the moment!
6th over: It's exhibition of six-hitting from Gayle at the moment. This time he deposits Richardson deep into the stands behind long-on. Will the 'happy hours' continue after powerplay? Have to if RCB dream to overhaul 214. Meanwhile, it's 65 for no loss after six overs.
5th over: Fifty up for RCB. Another six for Gayle, followed by two fours from Dilshan. Nathan Lyon is the sufferer; 19 off the over take the score to 56 for no loss.
4th over: Thirteen runs off the fourth over, courtesy a six over square leg and a scooped four from Dilshan. It's 37/0. Some start this!
3rd over: RCB openers Chris Gayle and Tillakaratne Dilshan have made their intentions clear. Dilshan with a 'Dilscoop' in the previous over and Gayle with a six. RCB 24/0.
    South Australia Redbacks innings:
20th over: The demolition is complete, 24 runs off the last over bowled by Aravind. Harris 108 not out in 61 balls with 17 fours and two sixes; Christian 27 not out. It's 214/2 on the board!
19th over: This is an outstanding innings from Harris; gets to his hundred, in just 58 balls, with a flicked six off Nannes. No stopping the Redbacks here, 190/2.
18th over: Ferguson (70 off 43) falls in quest of piling on the runs, Raju Bhatkal the bowler. But what an innings! It's 176/2. Can they touch 200?
17th over: And 15 runs off over No. 17. Also it brings up the 100-run partnership between Harris and Ferguson. It's no-holds-barred batting on show now: 160/1.
16th over: Aravind returns to the attack, and so do runs for the Redbacks, 17 of them. En route, Ferguson completes his half century. It's 145/1.
15th over: Dew seems to have come into play. Spinners now finding it difficult to grip the ball. And Harris has already set his team up for a final flourish. Redbacks 128/1 with five overs to go.
11th over: Things are looking much better for RCB. Though they are yet to take their second wicket, Daniel Vettori and Syed Mohammad have put a lid on scoring. It's 88/1 after 11 overs.
8th over: Harris reaches fifty off just 30 balls. The Aussie hits a cracking boundary through covers to bring up his personal landmark. Momentum still with the Redbacks at 66/1 in eight overs.
6th over: Finally something to cheer for RCB fans. Syed Mohammad strikes off his first ball by getting Klinger (7) stumped. And backs it with just three runs in the last powerplay over.
4th over: It's raining fours here. Redbacks reach 49 for no loss in four overs. Harris smacks Aravind for four more boundaries.
3rd over: And Harris swings Nannes now, takes him for 18 runs, including four boundaries. It's a rollicking start and Harris is on fire with 26 off 12 and Redbacks 33/0.
2nd over: Sreenath Aravind failed to back an excellent first over from Dirk Nannes and gives away 12 runs to allow South Australia Redbacks to get away. Daniel Harris punishes Aravind with three fours. Redbacks 15/0.
Royal Challengers Bangalore and South Australia Redbacks met in Bangalore in the last match of the group stage of CLT20, with one place in the semifinals still up for grabs from Group B. Redbacks skipper Michael Klinger won the toss and chose to bat.
While a win for RCB will tie them with Warriors and Kolkata Knight Riders at four points, it will knock the Redbacks out of the tournament as they will have only three points. However, if the Redbacks manage to win, they will knock RCB, Warriors and KKR out with five points against their name.
Somerset beat Warriors in the first of the double header on Wednesday to go through to the semi-finals from Group B with five points.
